nutella, nutella, nutella

Mmmm.... nutella crepes, nutella waffles, litre jars of nutella. Yay.

Les français, y savent manger.

***

Tomorrow is the last day of the French Intensive classes, then it is off to the crêperie for dinner (... nutella crêpes perhaps?) with the Germans, Fins, Argentinians, Mexicans, and Dutch. I have yet to really befriend a French person. Unless you count my roommate, Abdel, who is originally from Algeria but immigrated to France when he was young. More on him at another time, he really deserves a dedicated post. He is QUITE the guy.

DES OBSERVATIONS FRANÇAISES
  • People let their dogs poop on the sidewalk and they don't bother to pick it up.

  • The french aren't mean or grumpy, they just give that impression. But if you give a smile, you always get a smile :)

  • Cheap wine = good wine. Especially as a Winnipegger, always searching for a bargain, I think the satisfaction of the good deal adds a little something to the flavour.

  • German stores are the least expensive places to shop.

  • People don't ever seem to eat. Unless they are walking. They only sit to drink coffee. Other than that, they have cigarettes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
---
I did my first grocery shopping a few days ago. I went to the indoor (sort of) market and had no idea what to do. I spent a few minutes wandering around, trying to see if there was a cash register anywhere or how it worked. I followed some people, trying not to look creepy or silly, to see what they were doing. I eventually figured it out; you pay at each station individually... ohhhhh (lightbulb).
